Fall Guide to the Walla Walla Valley
Leaves changing in the vineyards during autumn.
Your Guide to the Best Walla Walla Fall Wine Tour
Fall is a magical season in the Walla Walla Valley — final grapes coming off the vines, leaves changing in the vineyards, and golden light on the hills. From wine tasting weekends to cozy autumn evenings, a Walla Walla fall wine tour should be on your bucket list.
Fall Wine Tasting
If you're daydreaming about autumn colors on the vines and a glass of red wine in hand, a fall wine tour through the Walla Walla Valley feels like a dream come true. From the east to west side of our Valley, there's no shortage of wineries that offer stunning vineyard views and award-winning wines to match.
Our recommendation? Pair seasonal views with a mix of Walla Walla's most celebrated red wine varieties — like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah — with less common reds like Barbera, Mourvèdre and Tempranillo, for a wine tasting experience that's equally cozy and well-rounded. Because nothing beats a glass of red wine from the Walla Walla Valley on a crisp fall day.
For the best views, we recommend visiting wineries in the Southside, Oregon or Eastside Districts. Don't sleep on other parts of the valley, though - in the fall, the historic wineries of the Westside District, cozy tasting rooms in the Airport District, and easily walkable spots in the Downtown District are great options as well.

Pair Tasting with Exploration: Events & Attractions
If you're looking to taste newly released wines, stroll picturesque downtown Walla Walla, and revel in the laid-back atmosphere that follows grape harvest season, Walla Walla's Fall Release Weekend is a great time to visit. Held annually during the first full weekend in November, this wine weekend is beloved for its casual tastings, winemaker dinners, live music and more special events.
Even when it's not Fall Release Weekend, there are plenty of special fall events to enjoy at our wineries. You can view the full calendar here.
Can’t make it for Fall Release? No problem. No matter when you visit during the season, the charm of the Walla Walla Valley will be on display. Grab seasonal drinks and pastries at the Colville Street Patisserie, stroll the pumpkin patch at Klicker's, or shop local, seasonal produce at the Farmer's Market.
